scenes from a Polish Christmas
For all of you who have been checking in on our blog (Mom? Dad? Anyone?), we apologize for the lack of updates recently. Preparations for Christmas were hectic, and then we became all too easily lulled into the delightful state known as Christmas Break (complete with naps, eating, watching movies, and then repeating that cycle). It really was a lovely and restful break, and we were able to spend time with friends and students. Rather than trying to write about EVERYTHING, I thought you might enjoy some pics from the past few weeks.row 1: barrel shop dispensing hot spiced wine and beer (very popular beverages this time of year); beeswax candles and straw bear sculpture (popular Polish arts/wares); the Cloth Hall in Krakow; painted/engraved wooden plates row 2: Krakow Christmas market; angels preparing to perform; stage in Krakow's market square

row 3: us trying to stay warm, Jon's artwork for our Christmas party invitation; shop with more folk art; our Christmas party with Heather (bestowing a white elephant gift on some lucky recipient), Renja (our friend and a German teacher at the school), and Lidia (our principal and our kind hostess on Christmas Day)
